Assignment

While the party has a personal matter to deal with in town, they were assigned to head to the Adventurers Guild in Hovedstad to lend a hand on a case.

Mission Summary

• 7 murders over the last seven tendays. The lead Investigator, Mastema, had hit a dead end. Each victim completely different. The only things similar were a) Infernal graffiti , b) stab wounds, and c) internal organs were crystalized, heart removed.
• Investigating the bodies they found the stab wounds were rough and amateurish. But, the cutting out of the heart left no obvious scratches or damage to the surrounding crystal. Seems like 2 involved in each incident.
• Talking w/ the High Alchemist (Mages Guild), they learned that the crystal was similar to Chardalyn, a high-valued gem that can hold arcane energy indefinitely. But, the crystal was so pure and fragile, that it would require someone trained in gemcutting to do it as well as this.
• They went to talk to the Gemcutters in the Laborers Guild, but the one there was heading towards dinner and they delayed the conversation. Met with Mastema over dinner and she suggested they head to the Market District to two jewelers.
• The Glasshopper, they inspected the work of items on sale. Briefly spoke with the owner, but moved on w/o interrogation.
• Thorin’s Gem Workshop was closed. They went inside, found Vall, an apprentice, interrogated her, and found that she was working for someone downstairs. Vall escaped on foot. The man downstairs escaped via magic once he had collected the hearts.
• With a description and a name, Mastema sends word to close all outgoing traffic from the city and a man hunt begins.
